Lovely creatures, flora and fauna, bent worshipers of the machine, monsters, myriad spirits. This world calls. There's no escape from this world to enter a better Fairytale of heroes and heroines. This world is the ultimate fairytale. The real adventure consists not in seeking empty, unpeopled lands to discover, but in seeing with new eyes.

Bonjour. Je m'appelle JC Anderson. I live and work in Vancouver BC. For over twenty years I've been serving the community as a designer, artist, and creator. I studied drawing and painting for seven years at local universities and since then it's been an ongoing journey of honing my skills and developing my art-making techniques. When it comes to photography, I bring my visual skills over from my long practice in the fields of drawing and painting: composition, color, shape, line. Making art gives me life. I also seek to bring a relaxed, comfortable, friendly atmosphere to my photography projects. I have years of experience taking portraits, landscapes, still-lifes and working with techniques such as double-exposure, photoshop wizardry, and advanced image-layering to make sleek professional images. Asking, What is true?

Photography asks questions. Each photo is alchemy. Art-making always asks, What is true? Will these words, lines, colors, and shapes revive the soul? Photography searches for meaning, it combines elements and ideas together and lets the alchemy play out. In making portraits, landscapes, cityscapes and still-lifes what interests me as a photographer is realism: a world of truth, beauty, and goodness, even a world where fantasy is at home and fits with all that we see around us. That too is realism. Vincent van Gogh was working in the same field. He writes, "You can feel the stars and the infinity of the sky since life in spite of everything is like a faerie-tale." Making good images requires good ideas. Whether you want photographs with simple visuals, eye-candy, or stylized anime or fantasy photography, I'm here to help.

Turtle-power fun facts

Here are some semi-random facts and happenings from our photography, design and audio practice through the years: the wild, the playful, the fun, the surprises, the "little brother turtle" moments.

Wildest audio

One of our wildest audio experiences came when we provided audio services to a group of female sex-workers making audio tracks for a website. The women doing vocals had left the sex-trade and were telling their stories. We worked with them to plan, write, record and edit their tracks. It was an honor to serve them and the non-profit providing them shelter.

The gift of play

In 2020 we built a party-game app. On New Year's Eve 2021 we played it with a group of fifteen relatives over the internet and laughed until the tears were running down our faces. It was a creative writing game.

Most laughter

I was once working for a church congregation, helping them with visuals. Every month they had a welcome dinner. The pastor had me create a visual for the big screen to advertise the dinner each month. Inspired, I decided to photoshop my pastor's face onto an image of a gourmet chef holding a steaming dish. The bodily proportions were highly amusing.

The pastor was on the fence about it, but he ran with it. When it displayed on Sunday the congregation erupted in laughter and laughed for three minutes straight till the pastor calmed them down. Mission accomplished. People loved it.

A shortcut to mushrooms

In 2025 we discovered wild mushrooms growing near us. We took photos. A couple weeks later we got a contract to build a website for a folk singer-songwriter and it worked out that the mushroom photos completed the needed material for the site. LOTR

If you're a graphic designer, you're always faced with the question, Would it be kosher to put images of Gandalf and the hobbits and dwarves into my client's graphic? Strange as it may seem, I crossed that thin red line more than once. There remains a graphic poster or two for clients in my archives complete with Tolkien's brood.

What's up Africa?

Some of our clients are Africans locally and in Africa. They've been working with us for years and teaching us their languages. After years of working with one African client, we collaborated and wrote a song in his native language. Working with Africans around the world is a great honor.
